Bayern Legend Praises Flick as Munich Targets Barcelona

Bayern Munich is confident of securing a new contract with Joshua Kimmich despite ongoing interest from top clubs like Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid. Hansi Flick, who played a pivotal role in Kimmich’s development at Bayern, has also received praise from Bayern legend Jupp Heynckes for his work at Barcelona. Flick’s leadership and emphasis on respect and communication have made a significant impact, with Kimmich now more inclined to stay at Bayern, signaling a shift in his future.

Bayern Legend Praises Hansi Flick’s Work at Barcelona

Hansi Flick’s impressive start as the manager of Barcelona has not gone unnoticed, earning him significant recognition within the world of football.

One of Flick’s most prominent admirers is Jupp Heynckes, the ex-Bayern Munich manager, who recently shared his appreciation for Flick’s achievements.

Heynckes, a key figure in German football and a legendary Bayern Munich coach emphasized the significance of respect in Flick’s approach to management.

Heynckes’ Tribute to Flick

Heynckes believes Hansi Flick has fostered a deep respect among his players, which he considers crucial for success in football. He pointed out that this respect comes from Flick’s behavior and leadership style.

“He has earned a lot of respect for his manners and behavior,” said Heynckes, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Heynckes thinks that “Spanish players want to be accompanied and supported,” a quality Flick has shown through his empathetic and composed demeanor.

His skill in building personal connections with players has helped create a positive environment within the team.

Additionally, Heynckes highlighted that Flick is not just a considerate manager, but also someone who values open communication with his players. “Hansi is a caring person; he seeks communication,” he added.

This trait has been especially advantageous for the current Barcelona team, which has shown significant progress under Flick’s leadership.

He noted that players such as Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha “are in very good shape,” highlighting the positive influence of Flick’s coaching on their performance.

Heynckes is no stranger to football success. At 79, he is famous for guiding Bayern Munich to a historic treble in 2013 and was named FIFA’s best coach in the world that year.

He retired from coaching in 2018, leaving a lasting legacy that still impacts current managers, including Flick.

Bayern Munich Confident of Keeping Barcelona’s Target

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that Bayern Munich is growing more confident about finalizing a new contract with Joshua Kimmich.

The German midfielder’s contract runs until 2025, and talks have started as Kimmich seems more open to negotiations compared to last season.

Moreover, despite rumors linking him to Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and Real Madrid, Bayern is eager to keep Kimmich as a key part of their future plans.

Familiar Faces

It’s important to mention that Kimmich has been a target for Barcelona over the last two summers, with both Xavi and Hansi Flick showing interest in signing him. However, Kimmich ultimately decided to stay at Bayern Munich.

Flick has been crucial in Kimmich’s development at Bayern, particularly during his two-year tenure with the club, where he famously transformed Kimmich from a midfielder into a right-back.

This tactical shift enhanced Kimmich’s versatility, as he had mostly played as a midfielder alongside Thiago Alcantara in a double-pivot role.

When Bayern’s regular right-back, Benjamin Pavard, was injured, Flick’s choice to move Kimmich to that position turned into a long-term strategy, boosting the player’s tactical depth and abilities.

Barcelona’s Interest

Barcelona has expressed strong interest in Kimmich, especially due to his midfield abilities.

However, his adaptability to the right flank is also attractive, especially since Jules Kounde currently has no experienced backup apart from the young Hector Fort.

During the summer transfer window, Kimmich was often associated with Barcelona, prompting speculation that if he didn’t renew his contract with Bayern, he might consider joining Barcelona because of Flick’s influence.

However, recent reports indicate that the German international is now more likely to remain at Bayern Munich instead of pursuing a transfer, signaling a change in his potential future.
