Hamann Backs Nübel as Neuer’s Successor

Didi Hamann, a respected voice in football, sees Alexander Nübel as a promising successor to Manuel Neuer for Germany’s number-one spot. Despite Neuer’s potential continuation at Bayern Munich, Nübel’s impressive loan spell at VfB Stuttgart has positioned him as a strong candidate for the future. This potential transition brings a sense of hope and anticipation for the German national team’s future.

Didi Hamann supports Bayern’s goalkeeper as the potential successor to Manuel Neuer for Germany’s number-one spot

Didi Hamann feels that Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nübel deserves a chance to succeed Manuel Neuer as Germany’s next number one.

Manuel Neuer announced his retirement from the Germany national team earlier this week, leading to expectations that Marc-André ter Stegen will take his place. The FC Barcelona star is set to receive a prolonged opportunity to be Julian Nagelsmann’s first-choice goalkeeper. It aims to establish itself as Germany’s new number one.

Didi Hamann supports Alexander Nübel over Marc-André ter Stegen

Didi Hamann’s belief in Nübel as a better replacement for Neuer sparks a lively debate. He sees Nübel as a more long-term solution for the team than Ter Stegen, igniting the competition for the coveted goalkeeper position and keeping the audience engaged in the ongoing debate.

“In Alexander Nübel, you have a goalkeeper who, in my opinion, could be the DFB goalkeeper for the next three or four tournaments. He’s five years younger than ter Stegen and for me he’s the best [option] at the moment. I would toy with the idea of putting Nübel in goal at the next World Cup,” Hamann said.

Nübel’s successful loan spell at VfB Stuttgart, where he played a pivotal role in their second-place Bundesliga finish, underscores his potential. At 27, he is determined to guide the Swabians to another strong season, instilling optimism about his potential to succeed Neuer as Germany’s first-choice goalkeeper and Bayern Munich’s future.

Bayern Munich plans to replace Neuer with Nübel once the veteran goalkeeper decides to retire. At 38, Neuer has no immediate plans to step away from club football and is even rumored to be considering extending his career beyond the end of the current season.

Manuel Neuer might remain at Bayern Munich past 2025

Even though Manuel Neuer has recently ended his career with the German national team, he might still stay at Bayern Munich for another two years.

Regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, Manuel Neuer announced his retirement from international duty earlier this week. The 38-year-old ended his national team career with 124 caps. However, he’s not yet ready to hang his gloves at the club level.

Could Manuel Neuer extend his Bayern Munich career past 2025?

Sky Sport reports that Manuel Neuer might extend his stay at Bayern Munich beyond the end of the current season. Although his contract expires at the end of this campaign, he could remain with the club until 2026.

Manuel Neuer’s performance this season will likely influence his future at Bayern Munich. The 2014 World Cup champion is eager to guide Bayern to the Bundesliga title, having missed out last season. To date, he has made 522 appearances for the club.

When Neuer eventually ends his Bayern Munich career, the club has already lined up his successor. Bayern is preparing to replace the legendary goalkeeper with Alexander Nübel, who extended his contract with the club earlier this year.

After a standout loan spell at VfB Stuttgart last season, Nübel will spend the next two seasons with Sebastian Hoeneß’s team. The former Schalke 04 and AS Monaco goalkeeper could then return to Bayern Munich.
