Kane Trains Separately as Tah Eyes Leverkusen Exit

Harry Kane is training separately from the England squad while he continues to heal from his wounds, aiming to be fit for the upcoming Nations League match against Greece. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah remains ongoing, with reports indicating the defender is likely to leave Leverkusen next summer, potentially on a free transfer. While Kane works to regain full fitness, Bayern’s attention is also on strengthening their defense for the future.

Kane Trains Separately As He Recovers From Injury

ENGLAND captain Harry Kane was absent from this morning’s training session as he continues his injury recovery.

Harry Kane hobbled off the pitch during Bayern Munich’s dramatic 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday after picking up what appeared to be a knock. Despite the concern over his injury, Kane did not hesitate and made his way directly to join the England team at St George’s Park. Upon arrival, he underwent a thorough assessment by England’s medical team, who, after reviewing his condition, cleared him to play in the upcoming Nations League fixtures. This approval came on Monday evening, easing some of the tension surrounding his fitness ahead of the crucial international matches.

However, the 31-year-old striker, determined to be fully ready for action, did not take part in the group training sessions with the rest of the squad. Instead, he followed an individualized training program tailored to his recovery needs. This indoor regimen is designed to get him back to full fitness as quickly as possible as he races against the clock to be fit for England’s Nations League match against Greece at Wembley the following night. While his participation in the match remains uncertain, Kane is working hard to recover, hoping to contribute to his team in what is expected to be a high-stakes encounter.

All 21 other players participated in training as interim manager Lee Carsley gets ready for the double-header, including Sunday’s match in Finland.

Ezri Konsa, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Kobbie Mainoo pulled out of the squad on Monday after suffering injuries while playing for their clubs over the weekend.

Carsley decided not to bring in any replacements.

Bayern Target Jonathan Tah Likely to Leave Leverkusen

Bayern Munich had been closely monitoring Bayer Leverkusen center-back Jonathan Tah throughout the summer transfer window, intending to include him in their team. Despite ongoing discussions and interest from the Rekordmeister, the deal never materialized. The two clubs were unable to agree on terms for the towering defender’s transfer, and the responsibility for the breakdown of negotiations has been placed on Leverkusen’s management. Despite Bayern’s clear interest, Leverkusen’s leadership refused to allow Tah to leave, much to the frustration of Bayern.

To finance the potential move for Tah, Bayern had earmarked funds from the sale of Kingsley Coman, who was also linked with a move away from the club. However, Coman ultimately rejected several lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League and decided to remain in Munich, thwarting Bayern’s plans to raise the necessary funds. In terms of defensive reinforcements, Bayern eventually secured the signing of Hiroki Ito from VfB Stuttgart. Unfortunately, Ito has been sidelined with an injury since mid-preseason training camp in Tegernsee, leaving Bayern with limited options in defense.

Looking ahead, Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported that Tah is still likely to leave Leverkusen next summer, and there is a possibility he could depart on a free transfer. His contract with the club is set to expire on June 30, 2024, which opens the door for him to negotiate with other clubs. Tah could sign a pre-contract agreement with a new team as early as the transfer window in January, potentially setting the stage for a move away from Leverkusen when the summer window opens.
