Konrad Laimer’s Role and Coman’s Potential Exit

Konrad Laimer has outlined how he will contribute to Bayern Munich with his energy, aggression, and drive to win, while the club is also weighing the potential sale of Kingsley Coman. Despite missing out on top target Désiré Doué, Bayern remains calm and is exploring other options. A high earner, Coman could be sold or loaned out as Barcelona considers a move. Still, Bayern might only get a loan deal due to the Spanish club’s financial constraints. With strong wing options already in place, including Leroy Sané and Michael Olise, Bayern is prepared to reassess its transfer strategy next summer.

Konrad Laimer explains what he adds to Bayern Munich

When Bayern Munich midfielder Konrad Laimer completed his transfer from East Germany in the summer of 2023, he brought three key qualities: boundless energy, fierce aggression, and an unyielding drive to win.

For the former RB Leipzig standout, these traits are his defining characteristics as a player.

“I think I’ve always been like that on the pitch. I don’t want to lose these 1v1 situations under any circumstances – no matter who I’m playing against and where on the pitch. This feeling is always there: I either don’t want to lose the ball under any circumstances — or win at all costs. It’s been like that for as long as I can remember,” Laimer said.

Laimer’s energy, aggression, and winning mentality have always been praised by his coaches. However, the question remains: Will these attributes be enough to set him apart and secure him a place in the central midfield this season?

The Austria international needs to be at his best to earn a place in the starting XI.

Bayern Munich is still considering the possibility of selling Kingsley Coman

Bayern Munich faced a major setback in their transfer plans over the weekend. The club had hoped to sign Désiré Doué from Rennes, but the French winger chose Paris Saint-Germain instead. This was a big disappointment for Bayern, as Doué was their top choice to strengthen their attack.

The record Bundesliga champions are considering other options in the market but remain calm. Missing out on Doué won’t disrupt Bayern’s plans for Kingsley Coman. According to Bild, Die Roten is still open to selling or loaning Coman during the final three weeks of the transfer window.

Coman is among the highest earners in the squad, and his departure would help Bayern reduce its wage bill. However, the club has faced challenges in securing permanent offers for Coman, leading them to entertain loan inquiries instead. While Paris Saint-Germain showed interest in Coman, they signed their primary target to boost their attack.

Barcelona is considering making a move for Coman

Barcelona has surfaced as a possible destination for Coman. According to Fabrizio Romano, Coman is among the players Barcelona wants to bolster its attack. The Spanish club is now less likely to pursue its top target, Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.

Bayern are unlikely to receive a transfer fee from Barcelona for Coman. The Spanish giants are facing financial difficulties, making it challenging to sign multiple players in one transfer window. This summer, they have already made a significant financial commitment by acquiring Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig. Barcelona might try to secure Coman on a loan deal in the final days of the transfer window. Bayern should consider including an obligation to buy in the loan agreement.

Why Bayern can afford to lose Coman without bringing in a replacement?

Bayern Munich have already improved their attack this summer by signing Michael Olise. Because of this, they can manage the season even if they don’t replace Coman. They have strong options with Leroy Sané, Olise, and Serge Gnabry available for the wings. Mathys Tel is expected to play more often and could regularly take up the left-wing position in the attack.

In addition to the four main options on the wings, Thomas Müller and Jamal Musiala can play in those positions if needed. After missing out on Doué, Bayern Munich cannot justify making a purchase just for the sake of it. They can afford to wait and reevaluate their needs next summer when more players will be available in the transfer market.
