Aston Villa Push for Joao Felix and Compete with Newcastle for Yilmaz

Aston Villa can now complete the transfer since the midfielder isn’t in the squad

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is said to be up for transfer just before the new Premier League season starts. This summer, he has been frequently linked with a move to Aston Villa.

Lo Celso, who joined Spurs in 2020 and spent 18 months on loan at Villarreal, where he worked with Villa manager Unai Emery, was absent from Spurs’ 26-man squad for their final pre-season match on Saturday—a 3-2 home loss to Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old, who has played over 100 games for Spurs, featured in 22 Premier League matches under Ange Postecoglou last season. However, Spurs now have Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, and Rodrigo Bentancur ahead of him in the midfield lineup.

Lo Celso’s previous club, Real Betis, where Tottenham originally acquired him, has consistently shown interest in re-signing the midfielder. Their sporting director recently commented, “He is a player who already showed his worth at Betis, who is now doing so with Argentina, and who is complementary to [Nabil] Fekir; one should not be a substitute for the other.”

Villa has been very active this summer, especially in the midfield. They’ve sold Douglas Luiz and Tim Iroegbunam and brought in Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus and Amadou Onana from Everton. Boubacar Kamara will be out injured at the start of the season. Jacob Ramsey was briefly linked with Spurs when a potential Lo Celso swap deal was discussed.

Aston Villa and Newcastle are competing for the transfer of Galatasaray’s Baris Alper Yilmaz

Galatasaray star, Baris Alper Yilmaz has been receiving high praise for his performances in recent years.

The 24-year-old played 55 matches across all competitions last season, scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists.

He also played in all five of Turkey’s matches at Euro 2024, where the national team reached the quarter-finals before being defeated by the Netherlands.

The winger’s impressive performances have drawn interest from Aston Villa and Newcastle United, making a Premier League move increasingly likely.

However, they are still looking for a winger to replace Moussa Diaby, who transferred to Al-Ittihad in a deal worth approximately €60 million.

The Lions might pursue Alper Yilmaz, but acquiring the player, who is under contract with Galatasaray until 2027, could require a substantial fee.

Newcastle is interested in the 24-year-old, but it seems unlikely they will make an offer for him this summer.

The Magpies have recently announced the signing of William Osula from Sheffield United. Osula can play both as a winger and a lone striker, so bringing another winger might be optional.

Aston Villa are set to make a final push for Joao Felix, with their offer likely to be under €50 million

Aston Villa is growing impatient in its pursuit of Joao Felix. Unai Emery is eager to include the Portuguese attacker in his squad for the 2024-25 season. He aims to finalize the deal before the campaign begins next weekend.

According to reports, Aston Villa will make a final push for Joao Felix next week. They think Atletico Madrid might need funds following their expensive signings of Robin Le Normand, Alexander Sorloth, Conor Gallagher, and Julian Alvarez, which puts them in a strong position for negotiations.

Their final offer is unlikely to reach the €50 million that Atletico Madrid is willing to accept for Felix. Aston Villa is ready to exit the negotiations if the proposal is rejected.

Barcelona remains interested in Felix, but he is not a top priority in the summer transfer window. A deal might be explored in the final days, but only if Atletico Madrid agrees to a second loan, which is currently not an option.
