Liverpool Confident on Diaz’s Future as Chelsea and Fulham Eye Transfer

Despite recent transfer speculation, Liverpool remains confident about Luis Diaz’s future at the club. With the asking price now revealed, Chelsea and Fulham see a potential opportunity to sign the Liverpool star. However, Liverpool’s reassurances suggest they are not worried about losing Diaz, and the club is prepared to keep him if a move doesn’t materialize.

Liverpool reassured about Luis Diaz’s future following transfer speculation

Luis Diaz feels comfortable at Liverpool, and only a huge contract offer would make him think about leaving. That’s what retired Colombian star Faustino Asprilla says, commenting on the transfer talk about Diaz this summer.

The 27-year-old has not indicated any desire to leave Anfield this month. On Saturday, he played the full 90 minutes in Arne Slot’s first Premier League match, a 2-0 victory at Ipswich Town. Recently, he has been linked with Barcelona and Manchester City.

Although both clubs are among those where Diaz might realistically move from Liverpool, Barcelona has instead signed Spain international Dani Olmo for £48 million. Meanwhile, rumors of Manchester City’s interest in Diaz have been swiftly dismissed.

Asprilla doesn’t think there’s any reason for him to think about leaving, as he mentioned in an interview with Gol Caracol: “I think Luis Díaz is already settled in Liverpool, they already know him, he has been there for two years, playing well.”

The Newcastle legend believes Diaz would only consider leaving if offered a contract substantially boosting his salary, which is reportedly £55,000 weekly. He could likely earn more at another club.

There have been no serious discussions from Liverpool’s management about renegotiating the contract Diaz signed in January 2022 or improving his salary. As Asprilla put it, “If the difference is not much, I would stay at Liverpool,”

“But if the difference in money is big, which in the end is what counts, then you always have to look for your well-being – both in terms of football and finances.”

Slot clarified his position on Diaz in his pre-match press conference earlier this week. When asked directly about the rumors, he assured fans that “his future is with us.”

Chelsea and Fulham have a great chance to secure a Liverpool transfer as the asking price becomes known

Following a recent development at Anfield, Chelsea and Fulham might get the chance to sign a Liverpool player. Chelsea kick off their Premier League season against Manchester City on Sunday. At the same time, Fulham narrowly lost to Manchester United on Friday night.

Liverpool defeated newly promoted Ipswich Town 2-0 in Saturday’s early game, with defender Joe Gomez missing from the squad. The Daily Mail reports that Gomez has chosen to leave Liverpool for more regular first-team opportunities. Although he played 32 league matches last season, he started only 17 of them, with Liverpool having plenty of defensive options like Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.

The report suggests that Gomez is seeking a move, and Liverpool is willing to approve his departure. However, they are not planning to push him out. They would be content with him remaining and rejoining Arne Slot’s squad if a transfer does not materialize.

The Times reports that Chelsea and Fulham are among the interested clubs, with significant Premier League interest already sparked. Fulham lost Tosin Adarabioyo and Tim Ream this summer but acquired Jorge Cuenca from Villarreal. Chelsea, meanwhile, signed Adarabioyo but also saw Thiago Silva depart.

Recent reports suggest Liverpool is seeking between £30 million and £35 million for Gomez, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United being the frontrunners in pursuing a deal. This would be a significant expenditure for Fulham, who recently spent a similar amount on Emile Smith Rowe. Newcastle, which was strongly linked with Gomez earlier in the window, might find him a more affordable alternative after rejecting offers exceeding £65 million for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

Gomez finished on a high note last season, earning a return to the England squad. In a conversation with Liverpool’s media team towards the end of the season, he said: “I’m really enjoying my football. Obviously, we had a good phase at the club when we won the league and so on. But obviously, this year has been different for me, playing in different places.”
