Tottenham Targets Zaha, Cuts Price for Aston Villa Target After Loss

Tottenham Hotspur is exploring signing Wilfried Zaha, the former Crystal Palace winger at Galatasaray, to strengthen its squad. Meanwhile, Spurs have reduced their asking price for an Aston Villa midfield target following a significant recent loss. This move reflects Tottenham’s broader strategy to enhance its attacking options while adjusting its transfer plans based on recent performances.

Tottenham Lowers Price for Aston Villa Midfield Target After Heavy Loss

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly lowering their asking price for midfielder Giovani Lo Celso in hopes of selling him by the end of the month.

Lo Celso was excluded from Tottenham’s squad for their pre-season match against Bayern Munich on Saturday, signaling that his future is likely elsewhere. With just a year left on his contract, the Spurs are looking to sell Lo Celso when they can.

Interest from Aston Villa, where manager Unai Emery previously coached him during a loan spell at Villarreal, and from his former club Real Betis, was confirmed over the weekend.

New details have emerged about how far Tottenham will go to offload the Argentina international in the next few weeks before the transfer window closes on August 30.

Sources revealed in June that Tottenham was open to accepting offers of £12m for Lo Celso from any interested party.

Since no offers have met their demands, Spurs have been compelled to lower their asking price.

Football Insider reports that Tottenham is asking for just £10m for Lo Celso and is expected to reject any loan offers.

Given that Ange Postecoglou no longer sees Lo Celso in his plans, Tottenham is racing against the clock to sell him. If they don’t find a buyer this month, they risk losing him for free at the end of the season, as he could sign a pre-contract deal with an overseas club beginning in January.

Real Betis acquired The midfielder for approximately £42m five years ago. Spurs are now facing a significant loss on Lo Celso, potentially more incredible than they initially anticipated.

Tottenham is seeking an upgrade for Lo Celso

If they manage to offload Lo Celso in time, they could create space for a player better suited to Postecoglou’s tactics.

The ideal target is Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, potentially leading to a part-exchange deal due to their interest in Lo Celso. Ramsey would be the more valuable part of the deal as the younger player with more significant long-term potential. However, reaching an agreement may take a lot of work.

Lo Celso might prefer a return to La Liga, where he made 70 appearances over two and a half years. In comparison, he played 77 times in the Premier League for Tottenham during three and a half years.

Historically, Lo Celso’s performance has been stronger in Spanish football, with 12 goals in La Liga compared to just three in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur have the chance to sign Wilfried Zaha, the former Crystal Palace winger now playing for Galatasaray

Spurs are actively looking to strengthen their attack for the upcoming season. They have already added to their forward line by signing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in a £65m deal.

Despite this major investment, the club is reportedly seeking additional attacking options.

Zaha spent nearly his entire career at Crystal Palace, making 458 appearances and recording an impressive 90 goals and 62 assists.

He left Crystal Palace last summer to join Turkish giants Galatasaray, where he scored nine goals and provided three assists in 30 appearances.

Despite a solid first season, he is reportedly looking to return to England.

Tottenham is one of many clubs aware of his wish to return to the Premier League. The report indicates that other teams, including Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United, also monitor Zaha’s situation.

Tottenham’s signing of the 31-year-old Ivory Coast international could be strategic. It would provide a seasoned winger at a potentially more affordable price.

If Zaha can regain his top form, he could become a key asset in Spurs’ attack, bringing the creativity and flair needed to make a substantial impact in the upcoming season.
