Why West Ham Passed on Amorim & Bellingham Link

West Ham recently decided not to pursue Ruben Amorim for their managerial position, despite his growing reputation, as they sought a more experienced candidate. Meanwhile, the club has been linked with a move for Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of Jude Bellingham, as they aim to strengthen their midfield. With a £20 million price tag, Jobe is seen as a promising addition who could bring much-needed dynamism to West Ham’s current setup.

Why West Ham Skipped Ruben Amorim for Man United Job

Manchester United has been ‘notified’ of why West Ham chose not to hire Ruben Amorim as their new manager earlier this year. Amorim is set to join United, with a deal in place for his move from Sporting CP to Old Trafford.

At only 39, Amorim is one of Europe’s most in-demand managers and was heavily rumored to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool after his surprise exit in January. However, a twist came when Amorim visited London for talks with West Ham in April.

He quickly regretted that proposed move when an agreement couldn’t be reached.

This came just weeks before Sporting secured the Primeira Liga title for the second time in three years under Amorim’s guidance. The former Benfica midfielder had also managed two other Portuguese clubs, Casa Pia and Braga, which raised concerns for West Ham.

According to The Daily Mail, West Ham officials ‘rejected‘ Amorim due to his limited managerial experience in just one country, as they were looking for a more experienced manager to succeed David Moyes. As a result, the club hired Julen Lopetegui, the former boss of Wolves, Sevilla, Real Madrid, Spain, and Porto.

Amorim apologized for his trip to London and later admitted it was poorly timed during a press conference. “What is important to say is that it was obviously a mistake,” the Sporting manager acknowledged.

“The trip was a mistake; the timing was completely misjudged, which I did not see at the time. It was misjudged.”

Commenting on United’s interest while awaiting his appointment, Amorim said, “Manchester United is interested, but it’s my choice. Until everything is decided, we won’t be making any noise.

“I have nothing else useful to say. I will take on whatever I want to do, as I have always done.

“I have always taken responsibility for my decisions. When I’m sure of things, it will be easier.”

Bellingham Linked with West Ham Move

West Ham United have limited funds for January and are focused on developing young talent. Without the significant summer spending, the club may look closer to home, similar to how they promoted Jarrod Bowen from Hull City in the Championship to Premier League level.

An interesting update comes from the Spanish site fichajes.net, known for being accurate with their Premier League rumors.

Today, their article titled ‘The Premier League Club that Wants to Sign Bellingham’s Brother ‘reveals that “Jobe Bellingham, younger brother of Jude Bellingham, could make the leap to the Premier League” – with West Ham.

Jobe Bellingham, a 19-year-old midfielder from Sunderland, is already attracting attention from several clubs. The report states, “West Ham’s interest is driven by both Jobe’s quality and potential to thrive in a more demanding league. His addition to the London team would be a bet on the future, given that the young midfielder has displayed traits similar to those of his brother Jude, especially in his ability to unsettle opponents and create goal-scoring opportunities from midfield.

West Ham’s manager, Julen Lopetegui, is aware that Jobe has all the necessary attributes to adjust to the Premier League’s intensity and contribute to the club’s long-term project.”

Valued at approximately £20 million, he would be more of a Bowen-type signing than a risky move like Guilherme – a worthwhile gamble to improve West Ham’s currently slow midfield. We’ll keep an eye out for further updates.
