Barcelona keeping an eye on 18-year-old Brazilian talent potentially worth €20 million

Barcelona consistently monitors the Brazilian football scene, aiming to discover and sign the country’s next emerging star.

The Catalans showed interest in signing Endrick, but he ultimately joined Real Madrid. Last year, they brought in Vitor Roque, but things didn’t go as expected, leading to the striker being loaned to Real Betis today.

Barcelona liked Estevao Willian but decided not to sign him. They didn’t think it was a priority, especially since he plays the same position as Lamine Yamal.

It seems that another Brazilian talent has recently caught the eye of Barcelona officials.

Kaua Elias is now on Barcelona’s radar

According to AS, Barcelona is one of several clubs keeping an eye on 18-year-old Fluminense striker Kaua Elias.

The 18-year-old striker is enjoying a breakthrough season with Fluminense, having scored four goals and set up one more in 16 Brazilian Serie A appearances so far in 2024.

Barcelona has been watching Elias for a while, with interest first growing after being the top scorer at the Under-17 South American Championships last year.

Currently, Barcelona, along with several other Spanish clubs, like Real Sociedad and Valencia, is still monitoring him.

At the same time, Chelsea is reported to have inquired about the teenage center-forward’s situation following his breakout performance.

Kaua Elias might be priced at €20 million

The report indicates that Fluminense values Elias at approximately €15-20 million but is not looking to sell him.

The report reveals that Fluminense has set Elias’s value between €15-20 million, but they are not interested in selling him at this time.

Barcelona only monitors the young striker, and action still needs to be taken. With other pressing matters to address, the club will unlikely pursue a move.

Barcelona registers 21-year-old for La Liga and announces jersey number

Barcelona is preparing to face Rayo Vallecano in their third La Liga season match. Hansi Flick’s team has made a strong start, winning both opening games.

The Spanish team secured a 2-1 victory over Valencia thanks to a strong second-half performance. Their win against Athletic Bilbao followed the same scoreline, but the performance was notably better.

Before the match, while fans awaited Dani Olmo’s registration, there’s been other news. According to SPORT, Barcelona has officially registered Ansu Fati for La Liga and confirmed that he will wear the number 10 jersey.

The 21-year-old Spanish international is sidelined with an injury, but Hansi Flick has expressed great confidence in him. Following the match against Athletic, the German coach noted that he hopes Fati will return to the form he displayed during pre-season.

This demonstrates the club’s strong belief in the La Masia graduate by keeping him and assigning him the #10 jersey. Fans will be eager for Fati to recover swiftly from his injury and significantly impact the team.

Once regarded as the next big talent from La Masia, Fati’s career has hit a roadblock over the past three seasons. He faced a series of injuries early in his career and struggled to regain the form he exhibited before these setbacks.

A loan to Brighton & Hove Albion last season was anticipated to help Fati reach his potential and provide consistent playing time. However, his stint at the Amex Stadium did not go as hoped.

When Fati recovers from his injury, he can take comfort in having a manager who believes in him. This season could be crucial for the 21-year-old’s future at Barcelona. It will be interesting to see if he can seize this chance and establish himself as a key player for the team.
