Gavi Criticizes Teammate as Barcelona Tracks Ajax Right-Back

Gavi has publicly criticized his Barcelona teammate for a costly mistake that led to a goal in their draw against Celta Vigo. Meanwhile, Barcelona is keeping an eye on 21-year-old Ajax right-back Devyne Rensch, whose contract is set to expire this season. While Rensch has impressed with his skills, including ball control, speed, and offensive ability, Barcelona faces competition from clubs like Real Madrid and Premier League sides, and Ajax has also offered him a renewal. The Catalan club continues to explore options for strengthening their fullback positions.

Gavi Slams Barca Teammate for Silly Goal vs Celta Vigo

As FC Barcelona failed to capitalize on their advantage and secure a win against Celta Vigo in last night’s La Liga match, French defender Jules Kounde has been heavily blamed.

The French defender was responsible for the first goal conceded by Celta Vigo, losing possession in his own box, which allowed Alfonso Gonzalez to capitalize and score.

Following the match, Kounde owned up to his errors while speaking to the media in the mixed zone. He wasn’t the only one to address the press, as midfielder Gavi also shared his thoughts after the game.

As noted by SPORT, the Spaniard was honest in his remarks and didn’t hesitate to point out the mistake made by his teammate that led to the first goal.

“The first goal was a silly mistake; you have to clear the ball there. But, well, it’s football, and you have to learn from this. Playing with one less is tough. We did what we could.”

The 20-year-old Barcelona midfielder also pointed out Marc Casado’s red card as a key moment that worsened the situation for his team.

“We had the game under control, but the red card affected us a lot. They scored on two key plays, and we have to learn from it. We can’t afford to get sent off because this can happen. That’s it; now we move on. It’s not just against Celta; it can happen with any team. If you’re not focused, this is what happens.”

Gavi was pleased to return to the starting lineup, but his joy was tempered by Barcelona’s inability to secure a win. “Happy to start; it’s been a year since the last time. But the important thing today was the three points, and it couldn’t happen.”

Gavi was candid in pointing out a teammate’s mistakes, showing no hesitation. Hopefully, Kounde will take the criticism constructively and avoid repeating such errors moving forward.

Barcelona Tracking 21-Year-Old Ajax Right-Back

The current FC Barcelona squad is performing at a high level this season, but the Blaugrana are confident there are areas that still need strengthening.

One area of focus is the flanks, with the Catalans aiming to strengthen the fullback positions to increase competition.

Alphonso Davies has recently been linked to Barcelona for the left flank; at the end of the season, his contract with Bayern Munich expires, and he has not yet reached a renewal agreement with the club.

However, other clubs like Real Madrid are also targeting the Canadian defender, so making a move to Barcelona seems difficult for now.

Meanwhile, SPORT reports that Barcelona is eyeing Dutch youngster Devyne Rensch to strengthen the right flank. His contract with Ajax is set to expire at the end of the season, and the 21-year-old has made significant progress in recent years. Rensch has impressed with his ball control, speed, and offensive play, and he is also part of the Netherlands U-21 team. While Barcelona has been monitoring him in recent months, no final decision has been made yet.

Despite that, Rensch would be an intriguing addition to Barcelona, providing depth on the right flank at an affordable price. However, he’s also attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Tottenham, and Ajax has made him a renewal offer.

Rensch isn’t the only option for Barcelona, as they are still keeping tabs on Marc Pubill, a player they were linked with during the last summer transfer window.

Currently, Jules Kounde is the starting right-back for Barcelona, with Hector Fort having limited involvement in the team. It’s still unclear if Barcelona will pursue the Dutch right-back.
