Barcelona currently has a crowded center-back lineup, with Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez securing their spots as the starting duo under Hansi Flick.
Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen are set to recover from injury soon and compete for their spots in the team. Eric Garcia provides solid backup, while Jules Kounde can return to his natural role in central defense.
Additionally, emerging talents like Sergi Dominguez and Andres Cuenca are pushing for a spot, having been given chances under Hansi Flick.
Barcelona Interested in Loic Bade
Despite having plenty of central defensive options, reports from SPORT suggest that Barcelona is monitoring Sevilla and France center-back Loic Bade, anticipating a potential departure in the summer.
Bade, 24, has established himself as a key player for the Andalusian side since joining from Rennes in 2023 and earned praise for his performances with France at the Olympics this summer.
The young defender was called up by France coach Didier Deschamps during the recent international break but didn’t feature due to muscle issues.
Liverpool has shown interest in Jules Kounde, and if he or any other defender were to depart Barcelona, the La Liga leaders may target Bade as a replacement.
It’s worth noting that Barcelona is already working on securing Jonathan Tah on a free transfer in the summer. However, with competition for his signature, Bade could serve as an alternative option.

However, Bade seems to have a long list of suitors, with several top European clubs showing interest in the Sevilla defender.
The report states that Barcelona, Liverpool, PSG, and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the Frenchman.
Additionally, Sevilla turned down a €20 million bid from Serie A giants AS Roma for the center-back and aims to secure at least €10 million more if they decide to sell.
It’s important to note that just two months ago, Bade signed a contract extension with Sevilla until 2029. As a result, Los Nervionenses holds a strong position in negotiations with any suitors looking to sign him.

Ahead of Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League clash between Bayern Munich and Barcelona, Kimmich didn’t rule out the possibility of a move to Camp Nou.
“In football, one can never make the mistake of ruling out possibilities,” Kimmich told reporters. “Now, to answer directly, I’m not thinking about it at the moment, but in football, you should never rule anything out.”
“It’s certainly strange to play against them. It’s a special moment; it’s always special to play against Barça. We’ve played against them quite a few times in recent years. It’ll be interesting to meet up with Hansi again, and we’re looking forward to it.
