Carboni’s ACL Tear & Ex-Inter Star’s PSG Exit: What’s Next?

Valentin Carboni faces a lengthy recovery after tearing his ACL, impacting both Inter Milan and Marseille’s plans for the young striker’s future. Meanwhile, an ex-Inter star at PSG is seeking an exit, with a potential surprise move to Juventus on the horizon. Both situations could have significant repercussions for the players’ careers and their respective clubs.

Carboni ACL Tear: Impact on Inter, Marseille, Future

Sad news has come from Argentina about young striker Valentin Carboni, currently on loan from Inter Milan to Marseille. The 19-year-old, who missed Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia due to a knee issue, has now been diagnosed with a more serious injury than first anticipated.

Calciomercato reports that medical tests have confirmed Carboni’s anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) was damaged in his left knee. This news is a major setback for Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi, who had high expectations for the young forward this season. The injury will keep Carboni out for at least six months, possibly ruling him out for the rest of the current campaign.

The situation is particularly complex given the terms of Carboni’s loan agreement between Inter Milan and Marseille. The deal, finalized during the summer transfer window, involves a paid loan of €1 million with an option for Marseille to buy the player for €36 million plus bonuses. Inter Milan, however, retained a buy-back clause set at €40 million.

This long-term injury creates complications for Marseille, as they now have little chance to assess Carboni’s performance before deciding on a permanent transfer. The French club will need to carefully weigh their options, considering the significant financial commitment needed to sign him permanently.

Inter Milan, meanwhile, retains the option to exercise their buy-back clause within 10 days if Marseille triggers the €36 million purchase option. If Marseille chooses not to make the deal permanent, Carboni will return to Milan at the end of the 2024-2025 season.

Ex-Inter Star Seeks PSG Exit – Juventus Move Possible

Skriniar’s current situation in Paris is, to say the least, far from ideal.

The Slovakian was a major acquisition for Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

Skriniar’s transfer marked the end of a year-long transfer saga.

PSG attempted to sign Skriniar in the summer of 2022, but Inter rejected all of their offers for the former Sampdoria defender.

As a result, Skriniar stayed at Inter when the transfer window closed.

However, the Nerazzurri had to persuade Skriniar to renew his contract, which was set to expire at the end of last June.

After being heavily featured in transfer talks over the summer, Skriniar decided not to renew his contract.

This meant the Slovakian was free to leave on a transfer.

Skriniar Seeks PSG Exit – Juventus Move Possible

Despite their efforts to sign Skriniar, PSG has been unable to make it work for the Slovak international.

Skriniar is out of favor with PSG coach Luis Enrique and has admitted he’s “not happy” with his current situation.

PSG had attempted to offload Skriniar during the summer transfer window.

However, the 29-year-old remained at the Parc des Princes.

PSG and Enrique haven’t fully excluded the former Inter defender. He has been training and has seen some playing time this season, though sporadically.

The reality is that Skriniar is currently at the bottom of the pecking order at PSG.

As a result, Slovakians are seeking an exit as soon as possible, with the January transfer window being a potential opportunity.

A surprising return to Serie A could be on the cards for Skriniar.

A move to Juventus would likely anger Inter fans, given their rivalry in the Derby d’Italia.

However, it would make practical sense. Skriniar is a proven Serie A defender, and Juventus are in need of a solution after Bremer’s significant injury.

The main obstacle to this move would be Skriniar’s wages. Juventus cannot afford the high salary he earns at PSG, so the French club would need to cover part of his pay.
