PSG Midfielder Lee Kang-in Selected for Ligue 1 Team of the Week

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Lee Kang-in was named to the Ligue 1 Team of the Week on Monday following his standout performance in Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Angers, where he scored twice and provided one assist.

Lee dominated the match, delivering five key passes and netting his first brace for PSG since his arrival in the 2023-24 season.

At PSG, Lee has become a crucial figure, thriving in multiple positions, including winger, attacking midfielder, and false nine.

Last season, Lee contributed five goals and five assists in 36 appearances across all competitions, helping PSG secure three titles: the Trophee des Champions, French Cup, and Ligue 1.

This season, Lee has already exceeded his goal total from last year, with six goals and 15 appearances in all competitions with one assist.

PSG have had a strong start to the season, topping the Ligue 1 table with nine wins, two draws, and no losses as of Tuesday.

Lee’s strong form comes just as the South Korean national team prepares for two 2026 World Cup qualifiers during the November international break.

Lee, a regular for the national team, was once again called up alongside other European-based Korean midfielders, including Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur), Hwang In-beam (Feyenoord), and Bae Jun-ho (Stoke City).

The PSG midfielder, with 33 caps, has featured in all four matches since Hong Myung-bo took over as national team coach in September.

Lee provided an assist in the qualifier against Oman on September 10 but has not scored a goal since Hong took charge.

Korea will face Kuwait on Thursday and take on Palestine the following Tuesday.

Atletico Madrid Eye Hertha Berlin Teen, Sought by EPL, Marseille

Atletico Madrid made a significant investment in their attack this summer, spending over €100m on Alexander Sorloth and Julian Alvarez. However, they are already planning for the future, with Hertha Berlin’s Ibrahim Maza drawing their interest.

Los Colchoneros are proactively looking to stay ahead of Europe’s top clubs by signing young talents before they take major leaps. The 18-year-old Maza has scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists in 12 appearances this season and has already debuted for the Algerian national team.

However, Atletico Madrid is not the only club that is interested, as Olympique Marseille, Leicester City, and Brentford have also begun scouting Maza. According to Diario AS, he could leave next summer, with his current contract running until 2027.

Atletico Madrid moved quickly to secure Samuel Lino from Portuguese football before he attracted interest from Europe’s elite clubs, a smart move that paid off. They attempted a similar strategy last season with Arthur Vermeeren, but that pursuit proved less successful.

Despite some challenges in this area, Atletico’s recent efforts indicate a renewed focus on strengthening their scouting and recruitment of young talent. This proactive approach suggests they are determined to be one step ahead of the competition and establish a more promising future.
