PSG Targets Vitinha Renewal and Surprises Arsenal with New Deal

PSG is focused on renewing Vitinha’s contract while also making headlines by securing a deal for an exciting new star, despite Arsenal’s efforts and Edu’s proposal. The French club’s strategic moves highlight its commitment to strengthening its squad and maintaining its competitive edge.

PSG aims to renew Vitinha’s contract

Paris Saint-Germain is seeking to extend Vitinha’s contract (24), as reported by L’Equipe. The Portuguese midfielder, who transferred to PSG from FC Porto for €42 million, had a shaky start to his career with the club. However, he thrived under Luis Enrique’s guidance and, aside from Kylian Mbappé, emerged as one of the team’s most dependable outfield players.

The 24-year-old Vitinha is said to have gained both prominence in the PSG locker room and popularity among the fans at Parc des Princes. According to reports, PSG executives are eager to extend his contract beyond 2027. The Portugal international, with 21 caps to his name, has contributed eleven goals and nine assists in 95 appearances for PSG. He featured in PSG’s season-opening 4-1 victory at Le Havre and is anticipated to play against Montpellier this Friday at home.

PSG surprise Arsenal with ‘deal finalized’ for exciting star despite Edu’s ‘proposal’

Arsenal may lose out on Serie A star Ademola Lookman, as Paris Saint-Germain is said to have made significant progress and reached a key ‘agreement’ for his acquisition.

Lookman was with Everton from January 2017 to July 2019 but scored only four goals in 48 appearances. The versatile forward, who can either be an attacking midfielder or a winger, had stints with RB Leipzig, Fulham, and Leicester City before moving to Atalanta in August 2022.

The Italian club acquired Lookman from Leipzig for €9.35 million, and he has since proven himself a key player.

The London-born talent, who plays for Nigeria internationally, notched 17 goals and ten assists in 45 appearances for Atalanta last season.

This included a hat-trick in the Europa League final. Atalanta ended Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten streak and secured their first-ever European trophy.

Unfortunately, Gian Piero Gasperini’s team may soon lose Lookman’s significant attacking impact.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Liverpool are considering a bold move to bring the former Everton player back to the Premier League, with Arsenal also reported to be interested.

Reports on Thursday suggested that Arsenal sporting director Edu had prepared a £43 million player-plus-cash proposal for Lookman, including Jakub Kiwior moving to Atalanta as part of the package.

Arsenal transfers: PSG intensifying efforts for Ademola Lookman

However, Arsenal and Liverpool have lagged in the transfer race. Journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that PSG is advancing in its pursuit of the versatile attacker and has ‘reached a complete verbal agreement’ with him on personal terms.

The 26-year-old ‘wants to join PSG right away,’ recognizing it as a fantastic chance to advance his career.

PSG officials have initiated talks with Atalanta, but finalizing the deal seems challenging. Negotiations for a permanent transfer are currently ‘stalling,’ and Arsenal is ‘closely monitoring the situation’ as Edu plans a potential dramatic intervention.

PSG aims to bring in Lookman to bolster its attack after Kylian Mbappe’s departure, but it appears to be seeking a deal at a lower cost.

This might give Arsenal a chance to secure Lookman, although PSG currently remains the leading contender.

If Arsenal overturned the transfer chase and brought Lookman back to the Premier League, he would offer strong competition for players such as Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, and Gabriel Martinelli.

Arsenal is pursuing multiple targets, including being on the verge of acquiring Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.
