Paris Saint-Germain is facing growing scrutiny over Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, with concerns about his performance lingering. Meanwhile, Arsenal is emerging as a serious contender to rival Saudi Arabia for PSG’s club chief, Luis Campos, who is in talks for a contract extension. As interest from multiple parties increases, Campos’ future at PSG is uncertain, potentially shifting the club’s strategy and leadership in the coming months.
PSG Warned About Worrying Trait of Manchester United Star
Marcus Rashford’s destiny at Manchester United may be determined in the 2024-25 season under the management of Ruben Amorim. One pundit has cautioned that the forward is missing a crucial attribute that he has yet to display at his boyhood club.
Last month, TEAMtalk revealed that Paris Saint-Germain has rekindled its interest in Rashford. Although the issues that prevented a summer transfer are still in place, the Ligue 1 side may attempt to sign him again next year.
Despite the changes, Rashford remains optimistic about a fresh start and the opportunity to regain his top form, as reported by TEAMtalk. However, talkSPORT’s Troy Deeney criticized the 27-year-old for his role in Manchester United’s recent struggles.
Deeney Warns PSG About Marcus Rashford
The ex-Watford striker was outspoken on TalkSPORT, blasting the England forward and Manchester United for allowing his poor behavior.
“I don’t consider Marcus Rashford to be a leader, I don’t… I think he’s childish in his actions, in his behavior, and dare I say it, at this moment in time, he has started to act like Man Utd owe him a favor,” Deeney said (h/t Football Insider).
Deeney also hinted that Rashford may not be held responsible for his underwhelming performances, which could be slowing his development.
“I just think when you look at it, he always gets rewarded for his bad behavior,” Deeney added. “So why would he change it? If Man Utd keeps giving him new contracts and keeps playing him, I said earlier in the season we spoke about this, he has been poor but stays on, whereas [Alejandro] Garnacho might come off, or [Diogo] Dalot might come off, depending on which one it is. He does put his foot in it.”
Arsenal to Rival Saudi Arabia for PSG Club Chief
Paris Saint-Germain is changing its strategy under sporting advisor Luis Campos, placing less emphasis on big-name signings and more on nurturing young talent. However, increasing interest in Campos could threaten his future at the club.
In his three years at Paris, Campos has signed promising talents such as Vitinha, Bradley Barcola, and João Neves. Prior to joining PSG, he had a successful stint at AS Monaco and LOSC Lille, building a reputation for astute recruitment.
Reports indicate that Arsenal are considering Campos as a possible replacement for Edu Gaspar, who recently resigned.
Sky Sports reports that Arsenal’s interest in Campos came after recent future-planning discussions in Los Angeles following Edu’s sudden resignation. With Campos’ contract at PSG expiring at the end of the season, he has become a top contender for the role.
Luis Campos Attracting Interest from More Than Just Arsenal
RMC Sport pundit Daniel Riolo revealed that Campos is in discussions to extend his stay at PSG but also noted that Arsenal and even Saudi Arabia may be trying to tempt the club chief away from the French capital.
“He’s currently in talks to renegotiate and extend his stay,” Riolo said on After Foot RMC (h/t Le10Sport). “There’s also a proposal from Saudi Arabia for him to take on a role as a promoter or key figure in football development there, especially with the 2034 World Cup on the horizon.”
“Campos is in the middle of these renegotiations, so it’s no surprise that there’s interest in him. He has a strong relationship with [Mikel] Arteta. I mentioned last year that Campos had considered Arteta for PSG during the summer.
“Their connection means that now, as Arsenal looks for a sporting director—they’re already considering Monaco’s director—Campos is also on their radar. Arteta knows him well.“
