West Ham Eyes PSG’s Soler; PSG Ignores Osimhen and Lookman

West Ham is keen on acquiring PSG’s Carlos Soler but must first sell some players to balance their finances and secure the transfer. Despite the recent injuries to their squad, PSG has chosen not to pursue high-profile targets like Victor Osimhen or Ademola Lookman. The Parisian club is confident in its current roster and plans to rely on its existing players to fill any gaps left by injuries. This decision may also affect the potential movements of the Nigerian duo, Osimhen, and Lookman, as they continue to seek new opportunities with other clubs during the ongoing transfer window.

West Ham wants PSG’s Carlos Soler but must sell players first

West Ham’s plans to boost their midfield with Carlos Soler from Paris Saint-Germain hinge on their ability to generate funds through player sales before the transfer window closes.

Initial discussions have occurred regarding a move for Soler, whom PSG values at approximately £20m. However, West Ham is closely monitoring its finances following a significant summer outlay, having invested over £100m in eight first-team signings. It is eager to offload peripheral players before the transfer window closes next week.

The club aims to reduce their wage bill by moving Kurt Zouma, who has fallen out of favor in central defense with the arrivals of Jean-Clair Todibo and Max Kilman. However, Zouma’s injury issues since joining West Ham three years ago led to a collapsed transfer to Shabab Al-Ahli due to a failed medical. West Ham is now seeking alternative solutions for the defender, who has attracted interest from various Middle Eastern clubs.

West Ham faces challenges in offloading players not in Julen Lopetegui’s plans due to a sluggish market influenced by concerns over the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules. Players already on high wages might be reluctant to move. The club seeks buyers for Morocco center-back Nayef Aguerd and former Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet. They are also open to offers for veteran strikers Danny Ings and Michail Antonio, though both have substantial salaries.

Despite injuries, PSG is not considering Osimhen or Lookman

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker Gonçalo Ramos had successful ankle surgery today after injuring himself in the 16th minute of PSG’s Ligue 1 opener against Le Havre last Friday. The Portuguese forward is anticipated to be out for about three months during his recovery.

Despite this setback, L’Equipe (via TMW) reports that PSG does not plan to seek a replacement for Ramos in the transfer market. Instead, manager Luis Enrique aims to rely on existing players to fill the gap, with Spanish forward Marco Asensio expected to receive more playing time.

This decision has significant implications for the Italian transfer market, signaling that PSG is not actively pursuing Victor Osimhen or Ademola Lookman at this time. Both Nigerian players have expressed a strong desire to leave their current clubs—Osimhen from Napoli and Lookman from Atalanta—. Still, neither has received offers that meet their expectations or the demands of their clubs. This situation leaves both players in a state of uncertainty, potentially impacting their transfer prospects as the window progresses. It also shifts the focus to other clubs who might be interested in acquiring these talents, thereby influencing the broader transfer dynamics in Italy.

PSG’s decision to depend on current squad members instead of chasing high-profile targets like Osimhen or Lookman reflects the club’s faith in its existing attacking options. This also keeps the possibility open for the Nigerian duo to move to other clubs as the transfer window continues.
