Yoro Injury Update as Gomes Sparks PL Transfer Talk

Erik ten Hag has given a positive update about Leny Yoro’s injury, indicating that the young player is progressing well in his rehabilitation. Meanwhile, former Manchester United star Angel Gomes is generating significant interest from several Premier League clubs as rumors swirl about a potential return to the league. With Gomes’ contract at Lille set to expire soon, teams like Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Aston Villa are reportedly considering offers for the talented playmaker in the upcoming January transfer window.

Ten Hag Shares Good News on Leny Yoro’s Injury

The Red Devils secured the 18-year-old from Lille during the summer transfer window, signing him to a five-year deal at Old Trafford. Unfortunately, Yoro sustained a metatarsal injury in a pre-season match against Arsenal in the United States, preventing him from making his official debut.

Manager Ten Hag has established a center-back pairing of Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt for the initial phase of the 2024/25 season, while Harry Maguire has been receiving playing time in the Europa League and Carabao Cup.

Yoro is not anticipated to return until at least November. Still, Ten Hag has stated that he is progressing well in his rehabilitation.

He said: “Yes, he is doing very well. It is very pleasing that his rehab is going in the right direction, and I expect him soon, but what I mean by soon is that he is now in the proper planning process.

“He is in the right spot and he will return as soon as possible into the squad and then the team training.”

Yoro made a strong impression in his debut summer friendly for United, playing the first 45 minutes in the 2-0 victory over Rangers at Murrayfield in July. However, he didn’t finish the next match against Arsenal and needed foot surgery.

Injuries significantly impacted United’s disappointing 2023/24 Premier League season. However, Ten Hag has most of his first-team squad available for Sunday’s match against Tottenham Hotspur. Left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia remain sidelined, and Victor Lindelof is also unavailable. Despite this, Ten Hag has an entire squad otherwise as he aims to elevate his team into the top ten of the standings.

Former Man United star Gomes ‘wanted’ by PL clubs

Former Manchester United star Angel Gomes is generating buzz as rumors circulate about a potential return to the Premier League. His impressive performances at Lille have caught the attention of several clubs in England’s top flight, hinting at an exciting opportunity for the talented midfielder.

Gomes decided to leave United in 2020, opting to join Ligue 1 side Lille on a free transfer once his contract at Old Trafford expired. Since then, the 24-year-old has blossomed into a key player for the French club, showcasing his skills and creativity on the pitch. His hard work has recently paid off, as he was awarded his first international cap for England during the September international break by interim manager Lee Carsley, further solidifying his status as a rising talent.

As his contract at Stade Pierre-Mauroy expires at the end of the season, speculation about Gomes’ future is intensifying. With no confirmation yet regarding a contract extension, the young playmaker may contemplate a new challenge elsewhere.

According to a report by The Telegraph, several Premier League clubs involved in the Champions League are actively considering making an offer for Gomes in the upcoming January transfer window. While Manchester United has not been mentioned as a potential destination, the report suggests that clubs like Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Aston Villa are keenly interested in securing the talented midfielder’s services. This situation could lead to an intriguing transfer saga as January approaches, with fans eagerly watching to see where Gomes might land next.
