Dybala’s Agent Meets Al Qadsiah Roma’s Tough Call

Dybala’s agent recently met with representatives from Al Qadsiah as Roma faces a challenging decision regarding their star player. With Dybala reportedly considering the move and Roma needing to address financial and role-related issues, the club must decide whether to part ways with the forward, who has been a key asset since joining.

Dybala’s agent meets Al Qadsiah: why Roma needs to part with their star player

As per Sky Sport Italia, Paulo Dybala’s agent is in discussions with Al Qadsiah representatives. Roma’s primary motivation for potentially offloading the striker is financial, as reported by the same source.

Dybala may depart Roma soon, as his agent, Carlos Novel, is meeting with directors from Saudi club Al Qadsiah—a team Dybala had previously declined a few weeks ago.

Sky and Repubblica report that Roma are pressing for Dybala’s departure, primarily due to financial concerns.

Dybala’s contract with the club expires in June 2025. Still, it includes a clause that lets him extend for an additional season if he meets a specified number of appearances.

The contract Dybala signed two years ago includes an automatic extension until 2026 if he played at least 50% of games for a minimum of 45 minutes each during his time with the club.

Dybala’s Contract Extension: Why Roma Can’t Manage the Extension

Dybala featured in 33 of 55 games during his first season at Roma and 31 of 54 last year. According to La Repubblica, making just 15 appearances this season would trigger an automatic contract extension to 2026. Still, Roma is unable to cover the cost.

Dybala’s salary has increased to €16 million gross this season and will remain at that level for the 2025-26 season, resulting in Roma needing to pay over €30 million over two years.

According to Sky, the uncertainty surrounding Dybala’s contract situation is a significant factor driving Roma’s efforts to offload their star player. Whether Al Qadsiah will succeed in convincing him this time remains a question mark.

La Joya had a €13 million release clause for clubs outside Serie A, but it expired at the start of August.

Roma has already signed Jeremy Boga, and Daniele De Rossi recently commented that Dybala is not untouchable.

La Repubblica reports that the Giallorossi manager has already told Dybala he will start on the bench for Sunday’s season opener against Cagliari.

Reports: Dybala Weighing Move to Al-Qadsiah

It would only be a typical Roma transfer window with some last-minute, frustrating decision. Usually, this means the club either overpays for a mediocre player or sells a promising young talent who ends up being a star elsewhere. However, it’s hard to imagine the club deliberately selling its best player since Francesco Totti.

While we Americans were asleep, reports suggest that Paulo Dybala, who has scored 34 goals and provided 17 assists over the past two seasons, is contemplating a last-minute move to Saudi club Al-Qadsiah. With a rumored conflict emerging between Dybala and Roma regarding his role this season, he has gradually become more open to relocating to Saudi Arabia.

Before we jump to conclusions and start blaming anyone, Gianluca Di Marzio reports that although Dybala and his agents met with representatives from Al-Qadsiah today, no deal has been finalized yet.

The situation involves both ego and financial factors. With Roma bringing in young attacking talents such as Tommaso Baldanzi and Matías Soulé, Dybala has reportedly questioned his position and status within the club. Additionally, his current €3.8 million salary would increase to €7 million if he plays at least 14 matches for 45 minutes or more each.

We’ll hold off on final accusations and judgments for now. For the moment, let’s hope for a rational resolution. As we saw last season, Roma is much stronger with Dybala than without him.
