Juric expressed confidence in Roma’s strength while addressing the situation surrounding Baldanzi. Meanwhile, the Juventus chief provided insights into Gleison Bremer’s injury, emphasizing the team’s resilience despite the setback. Both coaches are navigating challenges as they aim to maintain their squads’ competitive edge this season.
Juric on Baldanzi Issue, Confident Roma Is Strong
Ivan Juric outlines his decisions for Roma without Paulo Dybala against Monza and shares additional injury concerns for Tommaso Baldanzi. He adds, “The team is in good shape.”
Dybala is sidelined with a muscular injury, while Mats Hummels is experiencing flu symptoms. They join Enzo Le Fée and Alexis Saelemaekers on the list of absentees.
The coach was questioned about his decision to start Matias Soulé in Dybala’s position instead of Tommaso Baldanzi.
“Baldanzi has a sore leg, so we didn’t want to risk it. Soulé plays with character, and he tries the moves. They don’t all work, but he really has the hunger to prove his talent,” Juric told Sky Sport Italia.
Although the Giallorossi have won all three Serie A matches with Juric, they managed just a 1-1 home draw against Athletic Club and lost 1-0 away to Elfsborg in the Europa League on Thursday.
Juric Confident Roma Is on the Right Path
Given their trip to Sweden on Thursday evening, have the Roma players fully recuperated from the demands of the Europa League?
“We’ll see tonight. We’re trying to use every training session to introduce something of interest, but I feel like they have to train physically by playing. The team is in good shape.”
Dovbyk was rested during the week, but how does his return to the starting lineup impact Roma’s approach to attacking Monza?
“Dovbyk is quick running into spaces and good in the penalty area, so we need to make the most of those two main characteristics.”
After the 1-0 defeat to Elfsborg, Juric stated he observed a very strong performance. How did the team respond to that loss?
“Our reaction was disappointment that we lost a game when dominating, but there were many positives. We need to work on the details. There are very few days to prepare for that in training, but the team always played well,” assured the coach.
Juventus Chief Discusses Gleison Bremer’s Injury
Juventus will not rush decisions in the January transfer window, even after Gleison Bremer’s potentially season-ending injury. Club sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli noted that Thiago Motta has “a lot of quality options to choose from.”
Bremer suffered a severe knee injury during midweek UEFA Champions League play. He went down just six minutes into Juve’s 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig. After an uneventful foot race with Lois Openda, the Brazilian remained on the ground in pain and needed assistance from medical staff to exit the field.
Additional scans revealed an ACL tear, which will keep the 27-year-old center-back out for much of the season. However, Giuntoli is not planning to rush into the transfer market to find a replacement for Motta’s most dependable defender. The Bianconeri’s CEO has faith in the existing squad.
“We are very sad for him personally, but also for all of us, because we lost a great player,” the Juventus SD said, as reported by TMW. “The coach will have to make do with the other players in the squad, but he has a lot of quality to choose from.”
Giuntoli did not rule out the possibility of making another signing in the winter transfer window, but only if a suitable opportunity arises.
“It is still very early to say, so we’ll see how the team reacts and if there are any opportunities in January,” he said.
Juventus brought in Pierre Kalulu from Milan on loan with an option to buy in August. The Frenchman could serve as a short-term solution because he can play a variety of defensive roles.
