Juventus Football Director Cristiano Giuntoli is set to meet with Wenderson Galeno’s agent later today.
The 26-year-old has recently become a key transfer target for the Serie A giants looking to strengthen their wing positions.
The Brazilian, who is right-footed and typically plays as an inverted left winger, would directly replace Federico Chiesa. Chiesa is expected to leave the club under Thiago Motta’s direction.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Giuntoli is scheduled to meet with Galeno’s agent on Tuesday as the competition to secure the player’s services starts to heat up.
However, the source cautions that the process will take more work, as Porto demands a significant amount for their Brazilian star.
The winger’s contract with the Portuguese giants expires in June 2028. It includes a 60 million euro release clause.
Although Di Marzio didn’t specify the asking price, earlier reports indicated it might be around 35 million euros.
Galeno began his career at Trindade before moving to Porto’s second team in 2016. He also played for Braga from 2019 to 2022 before being reacquired by Porto.
As a Brazilian who holds a Portuguese passport, his arrival won’t take up a non-EU roster spot.
Juventus are also exploring other winger options, including Nicolas Gonzalez, Karim Adeyemi, and Francisco Conceicao, Galeno’s teammate at Porto.
Juventus faces two challenges in trying to sign Nico Gonzalez
Juventus are looking to enhance their wing position by bringing in Nicolas Gonzalez from Fiorentina. However, the process is turning out to be more difficult than anticipated, with several obstacles making securing the signing challenging.
After three years at the club, the 26-year-old wants to leave the Artemio Franchi Stadium. Fiorentina is okay with this because they have already found a replacement for Albert Gudmundsson.
Juventus might still need help signing the Argentine winger, even with their interest. These issues could make the transfer more difficult than they had hoped.
Il Corriere Fiorentino, reported by IlBianconero, says Fiorentina isn’t interested in swap deals and will only consider a cash offer.
The Bianconeri hoped to capitalize on the Tuscan’s interest in Weston McKennie by proposing him as part of a swap deal.
Besides the deal structure, Juventus faces a big challenge because Atalanta still wants to sign Gonzalez.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that La Dea’s plans for the Argentine remain unchanged despite Gianluca Scamacca’s recent ACL injury.
In other words, the Europa League champions still view Gonzalez as a key target for strengthening Gian Piero Gasperini’s team.
Unlike Juventus, Atalanta is ready to meet the transfer fee Fiorentina is asking for.
Di Marzio notes that the player’s agent will meet with Fiorentina’s directors on Tuesday to discuss the player’s future, which is moving further from Tuscany.
Additionally, the Argentine international had already shared with his teammates his plans to leave the club this summer.
The Copa America winner is under contract with Fiorentina until June 2028.
Bremer Shows Strong Commitment to Juventus Following Contract Renewal
Gleison Bremer has extended his Juventus contract by a year, running until 2029. This move puts an end to speculation about his potential departure this summer and possibly in the future. He expressed his views to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I’m very happy. This is a great club that made me grow. I’ve discovered the Champions League here. I’m delighted to continue with a very ambitious team like me. We can reach great objectives together.”
“I know that very important sides pursued me, but the Bianconeri are too. Why should I start over elsewhere? I’m great here and want to win with these colors. I’ve been in Italy for six years: it’s my second home.”
Bremer is excited about Juventus’s new direction under Cristiano Giuntoli and Thiago Motta.
“I believe in their multi-year project, which is why I chose to stay long-term. Their mission is to win like for all big teams. Coppa Italia was my first trophy, and I don’t want to stop. The director brought a lot of serenity. We talk often. I felt I could give even more, and he told me not to settle. He’s a great motivator.”
“The coach is very good. He wants to do well and measure up. We’re practicing hard on the physically too, not just with the ball. He always asks us to be our best selves. It’ll be a different year. It’s too early to tell what we could be in the running for. We surely want to aim high. This is the best club in Italy.”
Alfredo Pedullà reports that Bremer and Juventus have agreed to increase his release clause to €70M, which will apply starting next summer.
