Injuries Disrupt Liverpool and Real Madrid Ahead of Clash

Both Liverpool and Real Madrid face significant injury concerns ahead of their upcoming Champions League clash. Liverpool will be without key goalkeeper Alisson Becker and possibly Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota as they seek their first victory over Real Madrid since 2009. Meanwhile, Real Madrid is dealing with defensive setbacks, including the potential return of Aurelien Tchouameni, who could be thrust into a central defensive role due to injuries to Eder Militao and other key players. With both teams missing vital components, this match promises to be a pivotal showdown.

Injured Liverpool Star to Miss Real Madrid Clash

Liverpool will miss first-choice goalkeeper Alisson for their UEFA Champions League match against Real Madrid.

The Reds are back in Premier League action this weekend before facing Los Blancos at Anfield on November 27, a rematch of the 2021 final.

However, head coach Arne Slot has provided an update on Alisson’s condition, confirming he is still recovering from a hamstring injury.

The Brazil international has been absent from Liverpool’s last seven matches in all competitions, with Republic of Ireland’s Caoimhin Kelleher filling in as his replacement.

Kelleher was prevented from leaving in the summer, even though Liverpool agreed to terms for Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili, who was then loaned back to the Spanish club for the 2024/25 season.

Slot confirmed that Alisson is unlikely to return to the first team for several weeks and may be sidelined until at least mid-December.

Kelleher has registered two clean sheets in this season’s Champions League, having kept Bologna and Bayer Leverkusen scoreless.

Real Madrid Injury Forces Key Player into New Role vs. Liverpool

Aurelien Tchouameni is poised to provide Real Madrid with a significant fitness boost ahead of their Champions League clash with Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old midfield dynamo has been out of action since picking up an ankle injury in Los Blancos’ defeat by AC Milan last time out in Europe on November 5. However, according to the Spanish outlet AS, he’s making strong progress in his rehab and is eyeing a swift return, possibly for the upcoming titanic tussle, which reminisces the 2018 and 2022 finals clashes.

Tchouameni was initially expected to be out until early December, but he’s determined to return sooner as Madrid struggles with defensive issues, especially after Eder Militao’s season-ending injury against Osasuna.

Carlo Ancelotti may be planning to pair Tchouameni with Antonio Rudiger at the heart of the defense, with AS suggesting that the Frenchman’s quick recovery could align perfectly for this important match.

Speaking about Real Madrid’s strategy following Militao’s injury, Ancelotti mentioned earlier in November: “We have resources. The youngsters are very good, like [Raul] Asencio, and as an emergency, we have Tchouameni.”

With only two wins from their four Champions League fixtures, Real Madrid will travel to Merseyside with the goal of improving their position from 19th place in the standings. Their task is further complicated by the absences of key players, including David Alaba, Rodrygo, and Dani Carvajal, who are all sidelined due to injury. As Madrid looks to bounce back and gain crucial points, their depleted squad will face a tough challenge against a full-strength Liverpool side.

Liverpool, who will be without Alisson Becker for the upcoming match, is the only team in the tournament to have won all of its first four games. However, the Reds may also be missing two key players—Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota—when they face Real Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday night. As they aim to secure their first win over the Spanish giants since 2009, Jurgen Klopp’s side will need to overcome these injury setbacks while maintaining their perfect start in the competition.
