Kylian Mbappe is set to make his debut in the UEFA Super Cup with Real Madrid. At the same time, £3 million has been allocated to enhance facilities for the UEFA U19 Championship in North Wales.
Real Madrid is prepared to give Kylian Mbappe his debut in the UEFA Super Cup
Real Madrid supporters are buzzing with anticipation as they await the moment Kylian Mbappe takes to the pitch for their team. After several seasons of speculation and rumors surrounding his transfer, it’s no wonder that the excitement extends far beyond the Real Madrid fanbase. The entire football world is enthusiastic and eagerly looking forward to witnessing this highly anticipated debut.
Kylian Mbappe didn’t participate in the pre-season squad, while Endrick had a chance to showcase his skills. The reason for Mbappe’s absence was straightforward: he was engaged in EURO 2024, where he also suffered a broken nose. Given these circumstances, it’s clear why Real Madrid is opting for a cautious approach with his return.
As the new season quickly draws near, it won’t be long before Kylian Mbappe showcases his electrifying speed while wearing the iconic Royal White of Real Madrid. In fact, his debut could come as early as next week, adding an extra layer of excitement to the upcoming fixtures.
Real Madrid will give Kylian Mbappe his debut in the UEFA Super Cup
The Daily Mail reports that Kylian Mbappe might play in the upcoming UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta. Real Madrid secured their spot in this match by winning the Champions League, and they will now face Atalanta, the Europa League champions. This match presents a valuable opportunity to clinch a trophy before the domestic season kicks off.
This update follows Kylian Mbappe’s sharing photos of himself training. He was seen alongside Ferland Mendy and Aurelien Tchouameni, which is hardly surprising given that they are both fellow countrymen and players he is already well-acquainted with.
Jude Bellingham, a standout performer in EURO 2024 who played a crucial role in England’s run to the final, is also back in training. There’s a chance that Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe could team up for the first time in the UEFA Super Cup, a thrilling prospect hinted at by Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti said: “Mbappe can obviously play in the Super Cup from the start, Jude Bellingham too, and others. They are prepared, they have followed a plan and will all play.”
It’s yet to be decided which lineup Carlo Ancelotti will choose, but it’s exciting to see that both Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham are in the running to start.
£3 million in funding has been allocated for the UEFA U19 Championship in North Wales
To prepare to host the men’s UEFA U19 Championship in North Wales, the FAW is investing £3 million in upgrading facilities for the tournament, scheduled for June and July 2026.
In September 2023, UEFA awarded Wales the U19 Championship, which will also serve as a celebration of the FAW’s 150th anniversary. The finals will feature eight teams, including Cymru as the host nation, with seven others having advanced through two qualifying rounds.
The following venues have been selected throughout North Wales:
Stadium Venues:
- Nantporth Stadium, Bangor
- Central Park, Denbigh
- The Oval, Caernarfon
- STōK Cae Ras, Wrexham
Training Venues:
- Llanelian Road, Colwyn Bay
- Colliers Park, Gresford
- The Globe, Buckley
- Memorial Playing Fields, Ruthin
- Belle Vue, Rhyl
- The New Oval, Holyhead
- Cae Sling, Penmaenmawr
The U19 Championship will attract the continent’s top young talent to Wales, known for showcasing future stars like Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. In recent years, Cymru has qualified twice for the U17 version of the tournament, offering Welsh players valuable experience. Charlie Crew, who competed in that tournament, has since been called to the Cymru National Team.
Noel Mooney, the CEO of FAW, stated: “This is a significant investment from the FAW into facilities across North Wales and is another key step in building a Welsh football industry that represents a modern, progressive football nation.”
“We are delighted to be able to invest our money into key football sites across North Wales as we prepare to host the men’s UEFA U19 Championship at stadiums in Bangor, Buckley, Caernarfon, Colwyn Bay, Denbigh, Holyhead, Penmaenmawr, Rhyl, Ruthin, and Wrexham.”
Improving Welsh football is a top priority for the FAW, and this £3 million investment adds to other significant funds being used to grow the game.
The Cymru Football Foundation recently revealed that since 2022, it has invested £17 million in projects nationwide to create modern, future-ready football facilities.
This year, the most significant single investment ever in the JD Cymru Premier was also announced, with over £6 million allocated to support the league’s development through a new strategic plan.
DCMS and the English Premier League’s investment in the U19 Championship will also influence the JD Cymru Premier strategy. Many of the funded venues are home to clubs currently in the JD Cymru Premier or aspiring to join the league.
