Onana Injury Update and Bayern CEO’s Praise for Kompany

Aston Villa faces a critical weekend as they prepare for a match against Manchester United. Following his recent injury, Amadou Onana’s fitness is being questioned. The team celebrated a notable victory against Bayern Munich, where Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen praised Villa’s head coach Vincent Kompany in the locker room. Amidst the excitement, Villa will be looking to maintain their strong early-season form, but with injuries to key players like Jacob Ramsey and John McGinn, they must find a way to rebound and secure another win in the Bundesliga.

Is Amadou Onana Injured This Weekend? Premier League Update

On Wednesday evening, Aston Villa achieved one of their most notable victories in recent history by defeating Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Substitute Jhon Duran entered the game and scored a winner in the 79th minute against the German giants, sending Villa Park into a frenzy as Unai Emery’s team maintained their strong start to the season.

However, it wasn’t all positive, as the Villans faced a significant injury concern before Sunday’s match against Manchester United.

Is Amadou Onana injured this weekend?

On Sunday afternoon, Villa will host a struggling Red Devils team in the West Midlands. They aim to add to the woes of under-pressure manager Erik ten Hag, who is feeling the heat after his side’s loss to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Emery will be anxiously monitoring the fitness of summer signing Amadou Onana. The 25-year-old arrived from Everton in a £50 million deal in July and has been a crucial part of the team’s impressive start to the season.

Onana hobbled off in the 60th minute of Wednesday night’s Champions League match, with Ross Barkley taking his place for the game’s last few minutes.

As he exited the field, the 23-year-old seemed to have a hamstring problem, and Emery was unable to give an update on the Belgian international right after the match.

After Onana underwent evaluations following Wednesday night’s victory, Emery eased concerns about a serious injury when he spoke to the media on Friday.

“He’s a doubt, but I think he will be available because it is not a serious injury.”

Onana wasn’t the only player to leave the field against Bayern. Jacob Ramsey was substituted before the half-hour mark due to what appeared to be a groin issue. Leon Bailey took his place, and Emery confirmed that Ramsey and Bailey are doubts for the match against Manchester United.

Villa has also had Matty Cash and John McGinn sidelined in recent weeks. Cash is in contention for this weekend, while McGinn is expected to be unavailable.

Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara have resumed training after their lengthy absences. Still, they are not yet fit for match play.

Bayern CEO Praises Vincent Kompany After Villa Loss

Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen commended head coach Vincent Kompany in the locker room following the team’s 1-0 loss against Aston Villa in the Champions League.

“Vincent, we are certain that with your style of play, your speeches, your communication with the players, you’ve given us a lot of joy in the past few games. You will bring us joy again. We are happy that you are with us. The way we are playing football again makes us very happy. We can feel that the team is having fun. We have to look ahead to the important game against Frankfurt. We will certainly give it our all. Hopefully, we will show the performance that we have shown in recent weeks,” Dreesen told the team per Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

The support was probably appreciated during a challenging period. We’ll find out if a rebound is on the way for this weekend’s Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt.
