Real Madrid reveals squad and tests lineups for UEFA Super Cup

Real Madrid has announced their squad for the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta and has been trying out different lineups in training. Manager Carlo Ancelotti is experimenting with various setups to find the best approach for the match. The team is excited to begin the new season and hopes to win their first trophy of the year.

Real Madrid reveals their squad for the UEFA Super Cup showdown against Atalanta

Real Madrid will start their 2024/25 season on Wednesday night with a big match against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup. This will be their first official game of the season, and they will be looking to make a strong start by winning the trophy. Fans can expect an exciting match as both teams aim to make a positive impact right from the beginning of the season.

The game will take place in Warsaw, Poland, with the Merengues scheduled to travel from Madrid on Tuesday.

After their first official match of the 2024/25 season, manager Carlo Ancelotti has released the squad list for the trip to Warsaw, where they will face the reigning UEFA Europa League champions.

New signings Kylian Mbappe and Endrick have both been included in the squad. The duo is eager to begin their Real Madrid careers by securing a trophy in their debut match.

Dani Carvajal, Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Eduardo Camavinga, who missed the pre-season tour in the US, rejoined training last week and are now part of the squad for the upcoming match.

Meanwhile, despite his injury, Ancelotti has included David Alaba in the squad.

Following Joan Martinez’s ACL injury, young Jacobo Ramon has been called up to the senior team. Unfortunately, this means there is no room for Mario Martin and Nico Paz in the squad.

Ahead of the UEFA Super Cup match, Real Madrid’s coach experiments with two full-strength lineups during training

After securing their 15th UEFA Champions League title last season, Real Madrid can claim their first trophy of the new season in their opening match.

Los Blancos will face Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup later this week, marking the official start of their new campaign.

The match is full of suspense and excitement, particularly regarding how Carlo Ancelotti will set up his team.

The practice game

According to a recent update from MARCA, the Italian coach conducted a full-pitch training match earlier today to prepare for the UEFA Super Cup.

He deployed two full-strength starting elevens for the training match, and his choices offer clues about the lineup he might use later this week.

The first team featured Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, Jacobo Ramon, and Ferland Mendy in defense, with Arda Guler, Aurelien Tchouameni, Luka Modric, and Dani Ceballos in midfield. Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. led the attack.

Mbappe is set to make his debut for Real Madrid against Atalanta.

The second team included Lucas Vazquez, Eder Militao, Jesus Vallejo, and Fran García in defense, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, and Jude Bellingham in midfield, and Rodrygo, Endrick, and Brahim as the forwards.

At first glance, it’s evident that both lineups feature some positions filled with regular starters while others include backup players.

Therefore, Ancelotti’s lineup on Wednesday might include the midfield trio from the second team (Valverde, Camavinga, and Bellingham) alongside the attacking pair from the first team (Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe). The third forward spot is still uncertain, but Rodrygo is a strong candidate for that position.

In defense, Rudiger and Militao will likely pair up, with Carvajal and Mendy as the starting fullbacks. Thibaut Courtois will be the clear choice for goalkeeper.

However, based on the lineups, Ancelotti will likely bench Tchouameni for the vital match.

Given that he missed the UCL final and considering Ancelotti’s tendency to stick with the lineup that won the final whenever possible, Tchouameni might be left out for this crucial match.
